2019 Ram 1500 Big Horn Features and Specs

Once Ram trucks revealed full details of the all-new fifth generation 1500 full-size, light-duty pickup truck, it quickly became obvious the 2019 Ram 1500 Big Horn would be one of the most popular versions with buyers. The Ram 1500 Big Horn isn’t the entry model in the range as that honor goes to the Tradesman. But as the next model up in the range, this is where the majority of buyers will look first to get a great truck and some equally great value for money.

If you’re in the market for a new full-size truck and you’re looking for a fantastic combination of quality, style, capability, features and value, here’s some of what to expect from the 2019 Ram 1500 Big Horn. 2019 Ram 1500 Big Horn

Ram has undeniably toned-down the macho styling of its most popular truck a little, but it still looks just the way you want a full-size pickup to look. It’s obvious some wind tunnel testing has had a say in the new, smoother and sleeker design of the 1500, but it’s still one of the most rugged-looking trucks in its class. And as we expect from Ram 1500, the Big Horn trim level has its own unique grille to set it apart from the rest of the lineup.

The standard powerplant under the hood of the 1500 Big Horn is a 3.6-liter V6, but it’s not just any 3.6-liter V-6. The unit we have here is a mild hybrid called eTorque, which uses an electric motor to help with the workload of the conventional gas engine part of the system. The powerplant is rated at 305 horsepower and 269 lb.-ft. of torque, and there are two different eight-speed automatic transmissions available. Rear-wheel drive is standard, but four-wheel drive is available.

If more power is required, the Big Horn can also be specified with the optional 5.7-liter V-8. This one doesn’t get eTorque standard, but it can be specified on mild-hybrid form if you prefer. In standard form, the V-8 puts out 395 horsepower and 401 lb.-ft. of torque, but the eTorque system adds an extra 130 lb.-ft. of torque for relatively little money.

Standard equipment

Front seats in the 1500 Big Horn are cloth-covered, four-way manually adjustable, and the rear seat is a cloth 40/20/40 split bench that can be replaced by captain’s chairs if you prefer. The front seats can also be upgraded to heated seats at extra cost. Air conditioning, acoustic front glass, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and a 12-volt auxiliary power outlet are also standard. The standard infotainment is very impressive for a truck of this level. The Big Horn comes with Uconnect 3 and a five-inch display. The system features Voice Command, which is an in-vehicle, voice-activated system that makes it possible to access things like your favorite playlists on your MP3 player or USB port, to switch between different connected music sources, or to make and receive voice calls through your Bluetooth-compatible phone.
